Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:Â (Eph. 4:13-15)
Ephesians 4:15 is the direct continuation of 2019's theme (The Perfect Man & The Storm). From the scripture we see that "the perfect man will stand the storm", but we first must Speak the truth in love one with another, and only then can we grow up into HIM who is the head, even Christ.
Too many of us are hiding in the challenges we face, and so many of us are afraid to tell our brothers in error the truth about their ways. But "it takes each of us for all of us to get to perfection"
Verse 25 of Eph. 4 says "Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another."
We can no longer see our brothers walking into error, being carried away by winds of doctrines (being indoctrinated by the world) and remain silent for fear of hurting their feelings, offending them or for mere self-preservation. For true love is love in truth, and will not watch as another walks into bondage or Hell!Â
And so many of us (in the body of Christ) are getting shipwrecked and lost at sea but don't ever seem to open our mouths to cry for help! Why would we rather sink than call out for help?! How come suddenly our images are more important than our souls? If our truth is that we are struggling with one thing or another, our faith is shaking, or we're afraid of what comes next, we need to speak our truth (to God and to our brethren), only then can help come!Â
Our year's theme is about the body! About #TillWeAllCome and the role our unity, transparency, our gifts and our truths have to play in making each of us more and more like the head (Christ). We cannot keep silent anymore! We must #SpeakTheTruthInLove, and the truth must reach and touch every corner of the church, every organ of the body that is slowly growing weakly, cancerous or vestigial - we are members of one body!Â
